A Day Downtown

Garrett and I decided to explore a little bit of Sydney a few weeks ago.  There were a few shops that we were in search of in parts of town we'd never been to.  We spent time in Merrickville and Haymarket, both suburbs of Sydney.

We got a little hungry halfway through our day.  Just outside of Paddy's Market...



...and past the tall, old, hoola-hooping man...

...was China Town.  Multiple people had told us to try yum cha.  Apparently, yum cha is when you sit down to eat and  there is a constant flow of waiters and waitresses attempting to unload their food on your table. Constantly.  It seems that they time their service to coincide with every bite you take.  Because of the speedy service of their delicious food, I believe that was the fastest I've ever been in-and-out of a sit down restaurant.

As we were leaving China Town we noticed a growing line outside of a single window wedged in a string of shops.  We wouldn't have even noticed the window if the line of people hadn't been there.

 

So we joined the line and waited patiently until we received our Emperor's Puffs!  As we waited in line and saw the people ahead of us walking away with their goods, our own order of cream puff grew from 4, to 8, to 12.



Twelve cream puffs for $3.



Yum. Yum. We ate these delicious, fluffy balls of goodness as we waited for our bus to arrive, to take us home.  And boy were they worth the $3.



Besides discovering Emperor's Puffs, our day was pretty uneventful, but a good one at that.  We had great food and enjoyed our time in the city.
